Berkeley is a newer American curriculum school, founded in 2010 and earning full WASC accreditation in 2014, with its first graduating class walking in 2017. That relatively recent founding means Berkeley has a shorter track record than Bangkok's oldest American schools like ISB, but it has built its reputation quickly around strong facilities investment.
The school follows a US-style college preparatory curriculum, and its campus includes both 25 and 50 meter swimming pools along with a full-size grass soccer field, a level of dedicated athletics infrastructure that goes beyond what many similarly sized international schools in Bangkok offer.
Berkeley positions itself as an American curriculum option for families who want a genuinely college-preparatory track without the scale of ISB, appealing specifically to those who prefer a somewhat smaller community while still getting a full US-accredited academic program with AP courses available.
As a WASC-accredited school with a decade and a half of operating history now, Berkeley has moved past being an unproven newcomer, though it remains smaller in scale and shorter in institutional history than Bangkok's oldest American schools.
